Our Mission

Our mission has always been to help one patient, one family at a time. The Rare Inherited Kidney Disease Teams includes doctors and scientists from all over the world and is spearheaded by researchers at Wake Forest School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, NC and The First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University Medical School in Prague, Czech Republic.

The goal of our work is to help each family find the cause of their inherited kidney disease. We work most closely with families with UMOD, MUC1, and REN mutations. We characterize these disorders, provide information for patients and doctors, and we have several specific treatments we are working on.
